Spring in the South

29-30 April 2006

Chapel Hill and Duke University Shotokan Dojos host the 27th annual Spring in the South practice with our guest of honor, Mark Kohagura, yodan. Anticipate a dynamic weekend of karate training with Southern hospitality.

Registration

Pre-registration fee ($75.00) is due on or before 15 April; thereafter, $100.00. Children (12 and under), $40. Registration includes both luncheon and banquet.

Housing

Blocks of 10 rooms (double occupancy, non-smoking) are reserved for 28-29 April in Chapel Hill at the following:

• The Hampton Inn (1-919-968-3000) in the name of Shotokan Karate of America until 14 April for $79.00 (includes breakfast and internet connection);
• The Holiday Inn (1-888-452-5765) under SKA until 1 April at $79.95.

For upscale accommodations, five double rooms for Shotokan Karate of America are being held until 28 March at:

• Chapel Hill Sheraton Hotel (1-800-325-3535) at $149.00 per night.

Travel

Members will meet incoming flights at RDU if arrive before 10 PM Friday 28 April; schedule return flights after 2-3 PM on Sunday. If you travel by Amtrak or Greyhound, note this clearly on the registration form in order to be met at the Durham terminal. = Schedule

Practices are at Card Gym, Duke University, West Campus. The parking lot will be open for SKA members. Be punctual.

• Saturday, 28 April: 9:00 AM-noon, and 2:30-5:30 PM.
• Sunday, 29 April: 9:00 AM-noon

Luncheon

Saturday 12:30-1:30 PM in The Commons, Searle Center, Duke University, a 10-15 minute walk through the campus from Card Gym.

Banquet

A Saturday evening banquet is being planned. Details to follow. An open bar will be available at personal expense. Bring ID. Maps will be provided. Casual dress. Check the registration form if requesting a vegetarian meal.

SKA Dues

SKA membership (2006) is required and must be shown before practice.

T-Shirts

New limited edition T-shirts available (S, M, L, XL), $15.00 each; proceeds donated to the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo Fund.
